Awestricken by the magnificence - Part II

Do you know that all land on the Earth was single continuous mass? It is called PANGAEA. The whole land mass on Earth was one continent until cretaceous period. Look at the figure above to understand how gradually todays continents came into existence. Look at the small mass India which traveled as island before joining big Asian chunk! Due to Plate movements (Plate tectonics) underneath the layers of Earth, the land mass split and drifted away from each other to form todays continents. Universe is dynamic. All galaxies are moving away from each other every second.. Even Earth keeps changing.. But being ignorant of all this, we are very particular about our region, our language, our religion, our country, our nation everything about our our our... In fact the whole Earth was one.. But now so many differences crept in that we cant even imagine how it feels like having a single nation on it.. always human strove for predominance .. predominance over other country, other kingdom, other race..But doesn't it seem meaningless?? Being lucky to take birth on this beautiful Earth, shouldn't we live in harmony? After all its all one land!
We really don't care much about this .. But we give utmost importance to petty things we face every other day..
we strive hard to make money, get fame, build palaces but aren't these things ephemeral?
Why cant we just live and let others live happy? After all whatever we do is very insignificant in front of this magnificent Universe..

Awestricken by the magnificence - Part I

Never before I really felt the grandeur of our universe...
This revelation struck to me recently when I was attending a geography class..
I am spellbound.. this feeling is awesome!
Whenever we think of this Universe, we hear the phrases like we are insignificant in front of all this..
But this feeling never really sank in me..
All the history mankind has, has started only recently and it will last really short compared to the formation of the universe and transformations it is going through for billions of years.
Universe as we see today had come into existence at least as far as we know, with big bang, some 13.7 billion years ago, i.e, 13 700 000 000 years ago!
But human history starts (if u consider our ancestor ape too) just about 5-6 million years ago.. i.e, 5000000.
As we all know, sun is a star and its estimated life is 10 billion years.
Its already mid-way through and after 5 billion years it is supposed to become a white dwarf star after its death.
Earth was formed as any other planet in the solar system, but due to very comfortable temperature and atmosphere present here life has started. Once the source of energy dies, our dear Earth is deemed to die!
This doesn't matter to many of us, because our frame of reference is very small.
Everything that practically influences us has started happening only roughly around 3000 years back..
The wars we fought, the countries we split into, the books we wrote, the religions and myths we propagated, the norms we set matter the most.
We actually think that we are the masters of the world and we are going to live forever on this Earth.
But we have seen how giant animals in Jurassic period have become extinct towards the end of cretaceous period. Any small change in the universe can change very face of Earth.
But, we think that we can control any natural force and change it to our advantage!
No sooner than we started to understand our environment and invented technology to mend it for our own purposes, we started creating hazards for ourselves.
But what we can do is very insignificant in front of what has been happening in this Universe for billions of years and what might happen in future..
Even today we hardly know anything about the universe .. Where it all started? why it started? What is going to happen in future, when does it all end? how does it end? Does it really end? What lies beyond this?
People started speculating and we believe our mythological theories which were written when Man new literally nothing about the universe..To measure the extent of our ignorance it is enough to remember how we thought that Earth is the center of Universe and everything revolves around it! But till today, the myths written in that ignorant age remain guiding principles for many of us!

If I were not what I am!

I was wondering what if I were not what I am!
Its all chance that gave me birth in my country, my state, my family..
Had this not happened, If I had born like a beggar, not having anything to eat,
no place to sleep, no friends to talk to, no medicines to take if I am sick,
no importance attached to my existence in this world..
How would I feel? What would this world mean to me?

Or if I had born like a stray dog? Very sick and ugly? Roaming on the streets,
fighting for food near a public dust-bin..
Attracting contemptuous looks of all passers-by..
Don't I really deserve any love and affection?

Why is this world so imbalanced? what is their mistake?
Why are so many people homeless?
If at all God is present, why doesn't he care about his subjects??
You might say that its his sin in the previous birth which is why he is born stray.
After all why should anyone be punished? Lets say - rehabilitation

Dictionary meaning of Rehabilitation in this context is “restoration of someone to a useful place in society”. In order to change criminal, essential condition is he should know his crime. Only then he can think of not committing it again. But that’s not the case here. What is He(God) accomplishing by punishing someone in his next birth, when he is totally clueless of what he was in his last birth- if at all such a thing existed!

So I conclude that its just chance that decides where you are born. So it could certainly have been anyone of us! Only thing is luck favored u and me.I am grateful to my parents, brother, friends, relatives and everyone who helped me become what I am today. Now that I have my family, friends, enough money to go abroad and study, what should I be doing? Should I just look for my own comfort? Is it enough if I become filthy rich, build a house for myself, buy a car and have every kind of luxury?

Having born as privileged ones, aren’t we obliged to work for the betterment of lives of deprived ones? Many people abuse beggars on the streets. I am not saying we should give away money every time we come across a beggar. That would surely encourage begging, making them getting used to being unimportant and loosing self-respect which is even more dangerous. But is it not our responsibility to work for the betterment of other’s lives when we are capable of doing it?

How wonderful this world would be if everyone stops being materialistic, stops thinking only of her/his own gains. Greediness is the major reason for embezzlements and corruption in our country. As long as people do not realize that money is not everything, system is not going to change. So lets hope for a better country by being good, doing good to others, by understanding their suffering and doing whatever we can do for our humanity, for achieving equality.

E-waste

Advancement in technology has always posed a threat to nature and environmental balance.
Nevertheless it has been our discretion that decides what wins.
Sometimes the prospects offered by technology seem so persuading that we overlook its ill-effects.
A case in the point is penetration of white gadgets with high obsolescence rates, such as computers, cell phones, pagers, compact discs, floppy for that matter any electronic good which has potential to become obsolete. When I was searching for solutions to this suddenly something struck to me.. There are lot of abandoned lands out there in the space.. Why shouldn't we just go and drop e-wastes on some unused planets?
Haha what a funny idea! My mind would not stop imagining there...
Off course the cost incurred to transport them might never be feasible..
But what happens if we could really afford that??? We might end up polluting the whole universe one day!
All the planets might have suspended debris of obsolete particles..
What happens to the dreams of our Cosmo-maniacs??? The dream of camping on a near-by planet someday??
What if these planets could not hold the particles any longer and throw them into universe?
Will it backfire the earth?
What happens to the idea of "we are not alone- they are watching us"?? Will ETs bear with us??
We will have to find some dead planet and make it our trash-barrel!

Ufff.. gimme a break!
Tired mind gets weird thoughts!
Hence proved that this is my crap bag! :D

Happiness

What kind of fool I was to think that happiness comes from the situations, possessions, people, position, assets blah blah.. I was happy when I was in this conception but that was temporary..
I bought my bike, I was happy .. Soon I got used to it and it no more amused me..
I bought a new cell, I was damn happy but it met the same end..
I made many friends.. we had fun.. No doubt I was happy with them..
but how do I continue to be happy even in their absence?
Sudden revelation came to me.. Its not the surroundings that give you happiness..
but its you, your mind, your heart, your thoughts ...
They have the ability to make you happy even when you are in a quagmire..
I changed my mind.. my way of contemplating things..
though its hard to practice its the starting point!
